Introduction
To “promote spirit of research, study, and innovation in all humanities, and Islamic fields” and to realize knowledge-based development and promote local knowledge in the field of humanities, and in order to choose top researchers active in this field and to commemorate them, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran organizes the Fourth Farabi International Award on humanities and Islamic sciences in cooperation with domestic and foreign scientific organizations and institutes. The Award will be held in two sections: Domestic and Foreign. In the domestic section, the research works of scholars will be collected, reviewed, selected and introduced at “adult” and “Youth” levels.
In the foreign section designated to non-Iranian researchers only research works related to Iran and Islamic studies will be admitted.
Subject of the Award
The main subject of the Award is “to study and introduce research works in humanities and Islamic sciences” which may be sent to the secretariat of the Award as books, published and unpublished research, and academic theses. The subsidiary section of the Award introduces and commends top research centers, research and scientific publication, and scientific association in the field of humanities on an annual basis.
· Providing grounds and paving the way for production, strengthening and development of humanities;
· Help to delineate importance, application, and effective role of humanities in planning and policymaking processes;
· Introducing and deepening the awareness about the role of humanities in production of science and civilization building;
· Introducing the scientific potentials of Iran and the Muslim world in the field of humanities;
· Identification and introduction of top talents in the field of humanities and Islamic sciences;
· Providing suitable conditions to encourage and guide young talents to conduct indigenous, profound, fundamental, and applied research studies on humanities;
· To encourage production of indigenous knowledge in the field of humanities in Iran and the Muslim world;
· To help with rethinking and re-reading theoretical and scientific heritage of Iran and the Muslim world in this field.
Scientific Groups of the Award
Farabi International Award consists of eleven scientific groups which cover all areas of humanities and Islamic sciences. The Scientific Council of the Award is the highest decision-making body on scientific affairs and its members are secretaries of various committees.
Scientific groups consist of 5 or 7 prominent scholars and researchers in the relevant fields which are headed by the person in charge of the committee and assess scientific works in four stages. The fifth stage of judgment is done at the Scientific Council of the Award. Scientific committees of the Award, in Persian alphabetical order, are as follows:
1. Islamic Revolution and Imam Khomeini
2. History, geography, and archeology
3. Law
4. Language and literature
5. Social and communication sciences
6. Economics, management, and accounting
7. Educational sciences, psychology, behavioral sciences, and physical education
8. Political sciences, international relations and regional studies
9. Jurisprudence, principles of Islam, Quranic sciences, and hadith
10. Philosophy, theosophy, ethics, religions, and mysticism
11. Information technology, information and bookkeeping.
12. Arts and aesthetics studies
13. Iranology and Islamic Studies (for non-Iranian researchers)
Submission
Those interested to submit their research works, may download and fill in the related form. Sending research manuscript and documents to the secretariat of the Award is necessary. Since online submission is under construction, researcher may use the following submission form in 2 format:
1. electronic file manuscript or it’s printed copy
2. Submission form;
3. Scientific and research background (CV);
4. A 3 x 4 personal photo.
Research centers, scientific associations, as well as scientific publications may get forms and information on necessary documents on the website of the Award.
Important Notes
· Necessary documents should be provided and sent in full (incomplete documents will not be processes);
· Works not older than 10 years (done after October 2000) will be accepted;
· Only concluded research works will be accepted;
· In case of any change in address or phone number after the work is sent, the secretariat should be informed accordingly;
· Only unpublished research works which are rejected will be returned. Published works sent to the Award will be given to library of the research institute. Selected works will not be returned under any conditions;
· Research works may be sent by legal or real entities.
