We thank the Almighty God for providing us with yet another opportunity to hold the 3rd Farabi International Award with a commendable quality. We sincerely hope this would be another successful step in the direction of progress and elevation of science and research in the area of humanities and Islamic sciences in beloved Iran.
Considering that this boastful beginning is a belated effort in the national aura and Iran’s scientific international relations and requires compensation of many lost opportunities, it is essential for the authorities to fully support the process and fulfill abiding exigencies to ensure its success.
We regard the organization and holding of the 3rd Farabi International Award as an important sign of a great national resolve in honoring humanities and Islamic sciences as well as the attention paid to its independence and status by senior Iranian officials involved in education and research.
Considering that the philosophy behind holding the Farabi International Award is aimed at promoting the civilization building role of Islamic and human sciences, we owe the success of this event to the earnest and long-term support of the government as well as officials of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology for the scientific innovations of active scientific centers in this field.
The 3rd Farabi International Award is being held under conditions that this international institution, despite its short history, has managed to record an admirable growth in creating an inspiring horizon among researchers, scientific and research centers, the great Iranian scientific community and a big number of enthusiasts in Iran and Islamic studies.
Despite the young age of the festival as well as numerous obstacles and difficulties, the Secretariat of the Award has tried to make optimal use of the status quo to appreciate the scientific status and research capabilities of our scientific experts in an appropriate and valuable manner. The Scientific Council and other groups together with the officials of the Secretariat of the 3rd Farabi International Award have tried to ensure that the evaluation procedures and selection of the incoming works are done in a careful and impartial manner in all the stages. To this end, the works received by the Secretariat were studied and appraised in five stages. Some 519 prominent university professors from various fields participated in this heavy and responsible process out of which 72 people acted as members of the jury as well as official members of the scientific groups and councils. The Secretariat exercised utmost efforts in the various stages of filtration, evaluation and final selection of 1576 works sent to the Secretariat of the 3rd Farabi International Award.
In conclusion, the Secretariat of the 3rd Farabi International Award sincerely congratulates those selected at this stage and wishes all the best for those who could not make it this time. We also thank all the participants and authorities at this edition of the festival and hope that the next edition of the Farabi International Award will be held with more active presence of researchers as well as scientific and executive centers of the country.
